The European Dementia Prevention Initiative is a collaboration of research groups which are currently involved in research on dementia prevention. The initiative was launched in early 2011 and the first work-meeting was held on April 10th 2011 in Stockholm.
The groups currently participating are all involved in randomised controlled clinical trials on dementia prevention.
EDPI was started to improve collaboration of research groups in dementia prevention. By joining forces we can learn from each others study design and results. Differences and similarities between studies are being explored, and data sharing resulted in increased power to answer specific research questions. Large-scale international dementia prevention studies have been made possible by combining the extensive experience with design and execution of this type of trial in different countries. An example is the completed HATICE trial and the developing PRODEMOS trial.
